Lauren BirkbeckAs a dedicated and experienced child welfare professional, Lauren has built her career serving children and families of the commonwealth that are facing a wide variety of needs and supports. As the professional learning communities manager, she is responsible for developing and implementing a Professional Learning Community strategy, curriculum, and training protocol for all relevant child-serving sections. Lauren will provide leadership, consultation, coaching, and implementation support based on organizational gaps and needs as identified by feedback from stakeholders and community organizations. She will also continuously seek and share new information in the field of trauma and healing to promote best practice information sharing across the state.

For the past 10 years, Lauren has worked for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Department of Children and Families as a licensed social worker, investigator, emergency response worker, and most recently, a supervisor. She began her career in a Department of Youth Services residential facility and has held varying positions helping children involved and placed in the state’s foster care system.

Lauren is a graduate of Anna Maria College with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and a master’s degree in counseling psychology.
